Last week Friederike von Wedel-Parlow was invited by the Goethe Institut Ghana to their monthly conversational series Blind Data. Together with Yvette Tetteh they discussed the impacts of fast fashion and sustainability.

Our Director Friederike von Wedel-Parlow participated as a guest speaker in the event "ALL GOOD(S) - New Materials in Architecture, Design and Fashion for a Future Circular Economy" at Aedes Metropolitan Laboratory and spoke about the need to promote holistic and sustainable product design and make its value tangible.

Green Knowledge, an A-Z guide to sustainability in fashion, includes sustainable producers, brands and certification, as well as interviews and contributions from experts. Friederike von Wedel-Parlow is one of the authors, with a guest contribution on the new democratization of fashion and the potential of the eco and fair fashion niche.

Some time ago, a joint workshop with the YOUNG ACADEMY at the Academy of Arts took place, which gave scholarship holders the chance to have a look into the future. The main topics of this workshop have been summarized in a new publication and include certain approaches to Beneficial Design, which should help artists to take a stand on society and its development and to influence the latter.

The Bundespreis Ecodesign was awarded for the eighth time by the Federal Environment Ministry and the Federal Environment Agency (UBA). The international Fashionsustain, as a conference of Neonyt, has been accompanying the Fashion Week in Berlin for several seasons and offers a stage for sustainable focal points and questions of the fashion industry. For the Fashion Week Summer 2019 we were invited to present our study on purchasing practices in the fast fashion industry for the first time in public.

Together with our friends from Fraunhofer IZM, we designed and conducted a workshop at this year's WEAR IT INNOVATION SUMMIT with the title WORLD CAFÉ: CIRCULAR PRODUCT DESIGN FOR WEARABLES.
